US forces get a lift from PWC

24 June 2005
Kuwait's PWC Logisticshas been awarded a five-year contract, worth up to $1,500 million, to provide heavy lift transportation services to US forces in the region. The award came just three weeks after PWC won a prime vendor contract, worth up to $14,000 million, to deliver food to the US military (MEED 10:6:05).

The latest contract, which comes into effect in mid-July, is divided into five equal time periods - an initial 12-month commitment followed by four one-year extension options. During each 12-month period, the contract value may reach up to $305 million. The value for each time period will depend on the volume of transportation services required.

PWC has grown dramatically over the past three years to become the largest company in Kuwait in terms of market capitalisation. It has embarked on an ambitious expansion programme, which over the past 12 months has seen it acquire various international logistics and transport firms as well as branch out into the region through joint venture agreements with other companies (MEED 11:6:04).
