The US team of Lee-Fisher Associates with Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) has been appointed to prepare a masterplan for Bahrain International Airport. Three bidders were competing for the job (MEED 28:4:06).The comprehensive study, due to take about eight months to complete, will look at requirements over the next 30 years based on anticipated passenger growth over the next 15 years to 20 million-25 million.An independent project is already under way to carry out a fifth-phase expansion of the existing terminal building to accommodate up to 15 million passengers a year. France's Aeroports de Paris (AdP) and the UK's Jacobs Gibb submitted revised bids in April for the design and construction supervision contract. Government officials say that the long-awaited award is imminent (MEED 28:4:06).
