The US team of Lee-Fisher Associates with Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) has been appointed to prepare a masterplan for Bahrain International Airport. Three bidders were competing for the job (MEED 28:4:06).

The comprehensive study, due to take about eight months to complete, will look at requirements over the next

next 15 years to 20 million-25 million.

An independent project is already under way to carry out a fifth-phase expansion of the existing terminal building to accommodate up to 15 million passengers a year. France’s Aeroports de Paris (AdP) and the UK’s Jacobs Gibb submitted revised bids in April for the design and construction supervision contract.
