Oil minister Eulogio del Pino visits Qatar and Iran for talks

Venezuela’s Minister of Petroleum Eulogio del Pino is visiting Qatar and Iran for talks, according to a statement issued by the Venezuelan embassy in Moscow.

Del Pino was in Moscow for two days, where he met with Igor Sechin, the head of the government-controlled Russian oil company Rosneft.

Del Pino also discussed with Russia’s energy minister Alexander Novak the possibility of holding consultations between oil producers’ group Opec and non-Opec countries.

Venezuela’s economy has been severely affected by the collapse in global crude prices.

Del Pino is expected to push for an agreement on cutting oil production when he visits Qatar and Iran.
