Austrian group will supply pipeline materials for Integrated Gas Development Expansion
- Company will supply 95,000 tonnes of pipeline plates
- Pipeline will be processed by Indian steel group Jindal SAW
Austrias Voestalpine Group has won a contract to supply pipeline plates for the Integrated Gas Development Expansion (IGD-E) project in Abu Dhabi.
The company will supply 95,000 tonnes of plates for the 114-kilometre high-pressure pipeline between October this year and March 2016.
Voestalpine will supply its Indian tube manufacturer Jindal SAW with the plates for pipeline construction. The material will then be processed into pipes with a 45-inch diameter on behalf of project owner Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (Gasco).
Abu Dhabi awarded the three main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts on the IGD-E in February.
Spains Tecnicas Reunidas won a $700m contract for the 114km onshore segment of the pipeline between Ras al-Qila to the Habshan 5 gas processing plant. New units will also be required at Habshan 5 to receive gas from the new pipeline.
State-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and its subsidiaries are carrying out the IGD-E to produce 400 million cubic feet a day (cf/d) of additional gas from its offshore fields, in order to increase onshore gas sales.
