Sharjah-based port operator manages ports in Russia, Iraq and Brazil
Gulftainer Company says that throughput at their Sharjah terminals increased by more than 23 per cent from January to July this year.
The Sharjah-based port operator no expects volumes to exceed 3.5 million 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during 2012 at its Khorfakkan Container Terminal and Sharjah Container Terminal.
In recent years, Gulftainer has also invested in Iraq, Russia and now Brazil. In July, the company started operations at Recife in Brazil. In 2011, it signed a $275m deal to develop and operate Ust-Luga port in Russia. Ust-Luga port is located near St Petersburg and is the main gateway into Russia’s Baltic Western region.
