Wade wins Lagoons infrastructure

Local real estate developer Sama Dubai, part of Dubai Holding, has awarded the local Wade Adams Contracting the estimated AED 125 million ($34 million) area 2 infrastructure works at the Lagoons development - formerly known as the Seven Pearls. The scope of works includes the construction of an internal road network and the installation of services (MEED 21:4:06).

The scope of works includes the construction of an internal road network and the installation of services (MEED 21:4:06).

Sama Dubai has also invited companies to bid by 24 May for a quay walls package covering areas 2 and 3. The invited companies include: Geneva-registered Archirodon Construction (Overseas), the local/UK Dutco Balfour Beatty, the local Al-Naboodah Engineering Services, the local Cypriot National Wheel J&P, Wade Adams and Turkey?s Yuksel Construction.

Located on the banks of Dubai creek in the Ras al-Khor/Nad al-Hammar area, the 7 million-square-metre project will have seven islands, comprising residential units, commercial towers, five-star hotels and shopping malls.

Dutco Balfour Beatty is working on the estimated AED 70 million ($19 million) quay wall package for the central island at the heart of the development. The local/Turkish joint venture of Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises and STFA Soil Group is carrying out the first of four piling packages, which involves foundation work for three of the project?s 11 road bridges. The local Ghantoot Transport & General Contracting is undertaking site preparation work.

Denmark's DHI Water & Environment is the hydraulics consultant. Montgomery Watson, part of US-based MWH, is carrying out the environmental impact study. The UK?s Halcrow is the infrastructure consultant; US-based Hill International is the project manager.
