14 November 2003
A US civilian contractor was killed and a Portuguese journalist was shot in the leg in two attacks against foreign civilians in Iraq on 14 November. The contractor, who has not been named while his family is informed, was killed and his colleague injured when the convoy in which they were travelling was attacked about 45 kilometres north of Baghdad.

In southern Iraq, Maria Joao Ruela, a Portuguese journalist with the SIC Television network, was shot in the leg by militants who ambushed a column of three jeeps in which Portuguese reporters were travelling into southern Iraq from Kuwait. The attackers kidnapped Ruela's colleague, Carlos Raleiras. His whereabouts are unknown.
