Prequalified companies have started preparing technical and commercial bids for the long-planned Conveyor 800 project on the Litani river, following the release of the request for proposals (RFP). The client, the Council for Development & Reconstruction (CDR), has set a bid closing date of 14 July for the estimated $200 million project.
The contract is split into three separate packages: connection with the existing main headwork and the construction of a small bridge at the Litani river crossing and the Yohmor tunnel; construction of the remainder of the Conveyor 800 network and eight secondary conveyors; and construction of the remaining four secondary conveyors. Kuwait-based Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development (AFESD) is funding the project. The consultant is a joint venture of Lahmeyer International and Gauff Ingenieure, both of Germany, and Beirut-based Dar al-Handasah (Shair & Partners MEED 17:6:05).
