Joint venture will commission new production facilities for Shell at Majnoon oil field
The UK/Dutch Shell Group has awarded a contract to a joint venture of Aberdeen-based Wood Group PSN and Athens-based Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) for the commissioning of new production facilities at the Majnoon oil field in the south of Iraq.
The joint venture will provide manpower, tools, services and test equipment for the start-up, commissioning and testing of the new production facilities, according to a 7 May press release.
These include well site facilities, a central production facility and all new-build facilities and utilities required to operate the field, including pipelines and infrastructure.
The one-year contract will be effective from June 2013, employing 200 personnel. However, the value of the contract was not revealed. Shell is scheduled to reach its first production target of 175,000 barrels a day (b/d) at Majnoon in the middle of 2013.
The contract is a second win for Wood Group PSN, which is also working with Norwegian oil firm DNO for the development of the Tawke field in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
