Work starts on Al-Habtoor hotel on Palm Jumeirah

The local Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises has started work on the AED1.2bn ($327m) Habtoor Island Resort & Spa on the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai.

The project involves the construction of a 217-room hotel, along with 91 apartments and four villas.

Facilities include 10 restaurants, two ballrooms, a spa, a gym and swimming pools. Completion is expected in 2010.

The local Al-Habtoor Group is the client.
