Work is due to begin on the masterplan for Ajmakan, a 2 million square metre development in Riyadh.

Nikken Sekkei, a Japanese architecture firm, recently completed the detailed design on the project and will now start work on the masterplan.

The urban development project is located in the Al-Khozama district in Riyadh.

With a value of SR6bn ($1.6bn), Ajmakan includes commercial buildings, residential areas, hotels and villas.

UAE-based Tameer is the developer. Ajmakan, which was launched in 2007, is the company’s first project in Saudi Arabia.

Nikken Sekkei is also the consultant on the Andalusia Square Towers project in Jeddah. (MEED 19:5:08).
