Senior executives will convene at the Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC Hotel & Convention Centre in Riyadh to give a comprehensive overview of the kingdom's Public Investment Fund (PIF)-backed projects.

These include Neom in the northwest of the country, Roshn’s projects across the kingdom, the Diriyah Gate project in Riyadh and Red Sea Global’s projects including The Red Sea Project and Amaala on the west coast.

There will also be presentations on other major projects such as the Green Riyadh project, Al-Ula, King Salman Park, Riyadh Sports Boulevard, Rua al-Madinah and projects planned by Saudi Entertainment Ventures (Seven).

Saudi Arabia’s giga project programme consists of a series of touristic, residential, commercial and industrial projects designed to diversify the economy and support the kingdom’s economic transformation efforts, with an emphasis on green and sustainable development.

The giga projects are a core component of Vision 2030 and will be the catalysts for opening new areas of economic activity, creating jobs, and highlighting efforts for social and cultural diversification.

These projects are driving strong growth in the construction sector. MEED’s Saudi Gigaprojects report cites that there will be $569bn-worth of contracts between 2021 and 2025, a total that will dwarf the $172bn-worth of work awarded in Saudi Arabia during the previous five-year period between 2016 and 2021.

The opportunities are already present today. According to regional projects tracker MEED Projects, there were $10.6bn of construction and transport contract awards in Saudi Arabia in 2023 by 18 May. This is 8 per cent more than the total achieved during the same period last year.

Construction will also be on the agenda the next day with MEED’s Mena Construction Summit on 6 June, which will also be held at the Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC Hotel & Convention Centre in Riyadh.
