Overview
In an effort to meet the US environmental regulations by 2013, Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery (Samref) is upgrading its 400,000 barrels per day (b/d) oil refinery at Yanbu. The new rules make it compulsory to reduce the sulphur content in the gasoline they produce.
The law change requires gasoline to have a sulphur content of less than 10 parts per million (ppm) and 1 per cent benzene by 2013. Diesel must have less than 50 ppm of sulphur by 2013 and 10 ppm by 2016.
This profile is for the process package unit. The scope includes:
- Hydrogenation unit
- Splitter
