Yemen invites firms for rural electricity programme

09 February 2011

Expressions of interest to be submitted by 4 March

Yemen’s Electricity & Energy Ministry has invited consultants to express interest in advising on its rural energy access project by 4 March.

The chosen firm will advise on off-grid power projects across the country. The programme is supported by a grant from the World Bank’s International Development Association and loans from the Islamic Development Bank and Agence Francaise de Development.

Through the programme, the ministry aims to improve electricity access for rural populations and demonstrate the feasibility of access for on and off-grid areas through solar power.

The consultant will advise on the off-grid work. They will work closely with Yemen’s General Authority for Rural Electricity (GARE).
