Yemenia to increase flights to the Gulf and India

Yemen Airways (Yemenia) is preparing to expand its route network with new flights around the Gulf and to the Indian subcontinent later in 2008.

Yemenia will launch routes between Sana’a and Sharjah, and from Sharjah to the Indian city of Cochin in time for the winter season. The Yemeni flag carrier is also considering adding routes to Calcutta and Hyderabad.

The company also plans to expand the frequency of flights on its existing network. Two more flights a week will be added on its routes from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, and the airline also plans to increase its number of flights per week from Sana’a to Addis Ababa, Bombay and Jeddah.
