Zamil awards seamless pipe plant contract

24 February 2008
Saudi Arabia’s Al-Zamil Group has awarded the UK’s SA Kent the contract for the project management, and engineering and construction supervision of its seamless pipe plant in Dammam.

Kent will be working with Canada’s Brandt Engineered Products, who won the $174 design, engineering, procurement, installation supervision and commissioning contract on the facility last December. The plant is located in Dammam’s second industrial city (MEED 09:12:07).

Construction of the plant is expected to be completed in 2009. It will have an initial capacity of 170,000 tonnes a year of seamless pipes for use in oil and gas wells.
