Australian firm WorleyParsons will manage new projects at West Qurna-2 oil field
Australia’s WorleyParsons has been awarded a three-year contract to provide project management services for the West Qurna Phase-2 oil field in the south of Iraq.
The contract, awarded by Russia’s Lukoil, also covers technical and construction supervision personnel to support the company’s West Qurna-2 engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) activities.
The expected revenue from the contract is $82m, according to a 28 November statement.
It covers central processing facilities, gas treatment facilities, well pads, produced water treatment and all related offsites and utilities. A project management system will be developed to effectively manage and control the project during its execution from design engineering through to commissioning.
Lukoil plans to increase production capacity at the field to 1.8 million barrels a day (b/d).
WorleyParsons is currently working for UK oil major BP in Iraq, providing conceptual and front-end engineering and design (feed) services for the projects at the Rumaila field, also in the south of the country.
