Under the terms of the contract, ABB and SARPI will install oil production and treatment facilities with capacity of 25,000 barrels a day (b/d). The surface facilities will increase efficiency in the existing pipeline infrastructure. Construction is scheduled to take 28 months, though first oil is expected to come on stream four months prior to project completion.
The ABB consortium was one of six internationally-led groups to be shortlisted for the contract. The other bidders were Canada's SNC Lavalin, Kellogg Brown & Rootof the US, Japan's JGC Corporation, Initec of Spain and France's Sofregaz.
