Abdulwahab al-Sadoun

Biography: Abdulwahab al-Sadoun became secretary general of the GPCA in 2009.

He graduated with a doctorate from the University of London in industrial chemistry in 1990. After leaving university, Al-Sadoun worked for Sabic as a researcher. He joined Qatar-based Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting in January 1996 as a petrochemicals expert in the industrial projects department. Al-Sadoun was appointed director of the industrial information and coordination department in 1997.

In November 2001, he became senior vice-president at Saudi Arabia’s Al-Sharq Plastic Industries Company, leaving in November 2003 to form AWS Industrial Consulting.

Al-Sadoun accepted the role of director general of the energy division of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (Sagia) in December 2004. In 2008, he set up project development company PetroBaas.
