Four packages could be worth $2.4bn
The Abu Dhabi Centre for Housing & Service Facilities Developments is extending the closing date for four infrastructure packages on its Shamkha South development to 24 March. The total value of the work could be AED9bn ($2.4bn).
The extension was given after bidders asked the client for more time to prepare their prices. The previous closing date was 24 February.
The winning firm will build 80 kilometres of main roads, 270km of minor roads, as well as street lighting, stormwater drainage, sewage systems and electrical distribution networks.
Shamkha South is on the Abu Dhabi mainland, 50km south of Abu Dhabi Island and involves the development of 40 square km of land that could eventually house up to 200,000 residents in 43 neighbourhoods.
The development features parks, shops, mosques, hospitals, shopping and retail, hospitals, clinics, health clubs, schools, playgrounds and entertainment areas. It also has a green belt connecting the parks with the city centre.
The masterplan consultant is the Abu Dhabi office of KEO International Consultants (MEED 16:2:10).
