Emirate’s statistics below regional average
Abu Dhabi International airport recorded passenger numbers of 891,550 in August, an increase of 2.5 per cent year-on-year.
The latest figures released by Abu Dhabi Airports Company (Adac) show a 12.4 per cent increase in aircraft movements compared to August 2008, while cargo traffic increased 6.2 per cent.
However passenger traffic was well below the 10.8 per cent increase recorded across the region in August by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
India remains the largest market to and from Abu Dhabi during the month, with 8 per cent of total passenger traffic.
The increase in aircraft movements was attributed to new destinations introduced by Etihad Airways in the last year.
