Project expected to be tendered before the end of 2017
Abu Dhabi Municipalitys Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT) has invited companies to express an interest for the contract to supply, install, finance and maintain a smart street lighting system that will see some 43,000 existing luminaires replaced with light-emitting diode (LED) lights.
The contract is expected to be tendered before the end of 2017.
A workshop was recently held to brief the interested firms about the project.
The Abu Dhabi Municipality expects to realise significant cost savings from the reduction in its energy usage through the project.
The energy savings will be sufficient to make the needed payments to ADMs selected public-private partnership (PPP) partner while also reducing the municipalitys operating costs, the municipality said in a statement.
