Biography: Adnan Chilwan was appointed as the CEO of DIB in 2013, with a mandate to transform the organisation into a world class financial services provider. He leads the largest Islamic bank in the UAE with a balance sheet footing of nearly $30bn, market capitalisation of $6.53bn, a workforce of more than 7,000 employees within the group and a strong presence across the UAE, with growing international operations in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Chilwan represents DIB in boards of various strategic investments, subsidiaries and associates including Tamweel and DIB Capital.
Previously, Chilwan has worked with both conventional and Islamic banks in the Gulf region. He has a doctorate and a master’s degree in marketing, and is a Certified Islamic Banker (CeIB). He holds a postgraduate degree in Islamic banking & insurance and is an associate fellow member of the Islamic Finance Professionals Board.
