The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) has announced completing installation of production enhancement facilities at its offshore Nasr oil field.
The production infrastructure, along with the associated facilities, forms an offshore installation which is among the largest in the world, according to Adnoc.
The Nasr field forms part of Abu Dhabi’s premium Umm Shaif and Nasr offshore concession. They are new 40-year operating licenses which Adnoc awarded in the first and second quarters of this year.
Adnoc, which holds the majority 60 per cent stake in the three offshore oil blocks, in March awarded France’s Total, Italy’s Eni and China’s CNPC 20 per cent, 10 per cent and 10 per cent stakes respectively in the Umm Shaif and Nasr offshore concession.
The Nasr field is estimated to have a modest output of 25,000 barrels a day (b/d), which Adnoc aims to raise to 65,000 b/d by the first quarter of 2019.
Raising production from Nasr is vital to Adnoc reaching its overall target of 3.5 million b/d by the end of the year.
