Position: Executive chairman, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC)

Biography: Ahmed bin Sulayem has been the executive chairman of DMCC since 2007 and is also the chairman of the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX).

Bin Sulayem was a key figure in DMCC’s development and under his leadership, the Jumeirah Lakes Towers [JLT] freezone in Dubai has become the region’s leading hub for commodities trading. His achievements include establishing the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) and the Dubai Pearl Exchange.

Bin Sulayem began his career as a director for local property management firm Asteco in 2000. He then joined DMCC as director, before being promoted to chief operating officer in 2002. Bin Sulayem became vice-president of DDE in 2006 and then the executive chairman of DMCC and chairman of DGCX in 2007. He graduated from the California State University in the US in 2000.
