Local company Ahmed Mansoor al-Aali has been awarded a contract for the National Assembly building for the reclamation of land and construction of quay walls.
Work is expected to start by May 2008, and is due to take two years. The development is located in Juffair, near the capital city of Manama.
The company was the sole bidder with BD30.7m ($82m). Bahrain’s Ministry of Works is the client.
In late 2007, Ahmed Mansoor al-Aali won the construction contract for the $550m Downtown Al-Areen project in Bahrain, with work due to begin in the first quarter of 2008 (MEED 17:1:08).
