31 January 2008
Local company Ahmed Mansoor al-Aali has won an infrastructure contract on the Bahrain Bay development.

The work includes road works, establishing a water supply and general infrastructure maintenance. The company was low-bidder for the contract, with a price of BD27m ($72m). Three other firms bid for the work.

Bahrain Bay is a $1.5bn urban development project to the north east of Manama. Arcapita is the client.

A number of other projects in the area are also moving ahead. Singapore-based Capitaland Group is approaching contractors for its estimated $630m Raffles City project at Bahrain Bay. The award is expected to be announced by the third quarter of 2008.

It will be located in the District Centre which, with a built-up area of 230,000 square metres, will account for 20 per cent of the Bahrain Bay development (MEED 17:8:08).
