Air Arabia’s fleet size increases to 29
Sharjah-based low-cost carrier Air Arabia has received its fourth aircraft this year, taking its total fleet to 29 aircraft.
The fourth aircraft was an Airbus A320, its sixth of a 44-strong order of A320s made in 2007. The delivery of all these aircraft is expected to be finished by 2016.
The airline expects to take delivery of two more A320s by the end of 2011.
Air Arabia launched its sixth route to Saudi Arabia in September. The airline recorded a net profit of $14m in the second quarter of 2011 which was a two per cent rise on the net profit achieved in the same time in 2010 (MEED 5:9:11).
