Abu Dhabi-based Al-Jaber Building Establishment has been awarded the first major construction package on the Al-Raha Gardens development, winning a contract valued at just under $100 million to build villas. The 12-month contract will comprise two residential lots - Al-Mariah and Muzera - and involves the construction of two gated residential compounds, offering 280 villas and townhouses, as well as roads and related infrastructure. The client is ALDAR Properties.
The client has prequalified 11 local contractors to bid for other villa packages at Al-Raha. The prequalified firms are: Al-Hamed Development & Construction; Al-Meraikhi General Contracting; Al-Meraikhi Industrial Complex; Ali & Sons Company; Arabtec Construction; Al-Fara'a General Contracting Company; Commodore Contracting Company; Civil Engineering & Contracting Company (Civilco); Nael General Company; Target Engineering Construction Companyand Al-Jaber. The estimated $270 million development will comprise 1,388 villas and townhouses. UK-based Maunsellis the infrastructure design consultant. Australia's GHDis the overall consultant. ALDAR is the project manager.
