Contractor to design, supply and install 33/11kV distribution substations
Abu Dhabi-based Al-Jaber Transport & Contracting Company has won two power distribution contracts worth a total of AED304m ($83m) in the northern emirates.
The Federal Electricity & Water Authority (Fewa) is the client.
Under the deal, Al-Jaber will design, supply and install 33/11kV distribution substations in Ras al-Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm al-Quwain as well as in Al-Dhaid, the capital of the central district of the emirate of Sharjah.
The contractor will also expand several existing substations across the northern emirates.
In late January, Fewa signed a AED104m contract with Switzerland-based ABB for the construction of five 132kV substations and the expansion of an existing one.
Fewa currently has installed power-generating capacity of 1,080MW, down from 1,120MW in 2008.
