Al-Raha Gardens widens its scope

Abu Dhabi-based ALDAR Propertieshas invited firms to bid by the end of August for the second package on the Al-Raha 1 Gardens residential project. The 12-month contract will comprise two residential lots - Al-Mariah and Muzera - and involves the construction of two gated residential compounds, offering a total of 280 villas and townhouses, as well as roads and related infrastructure (MEED 29:7:05).

Bids are due by 24 August for the first residential package, which similarly covers 280 villas and townhouses. Six local contractors have been invited to bid. Further packages for Al-Raha Gardens 1 are due to be tendered in the coming weeks. In total, the development will comprise 750 townhouses and villas, while phase 2 will add a further 638 villas. The packages cover three, four and five-bedroom townhouses and villas situated across the six main development communities: Yasmina, Sidra, Samra, Al-Mariah, Muzera and Raha Village.

The estimated AED 1,000 million ($272 million) project is being tendered in at least five packages. Six local companies have been prequalified to bid for the infrastructure works package. A tender is due to be issued on completion of the infrastructure design work, which is being carried out by UK-based Maunsell. Australia's GHDis the overall consultant for Raha Gardens; ALDAR is the project manager.
