Saudi Islamic lender Al Rajhi Bank is to launch its Islamic banking operations in Jordan within the coming two months, Jordan Times has reported. The bank has to open its first branch in the kingdom before the end of November this year, as regulations by the central bank of Jordan stipulate that newly licensed banks must start operations within one year of the date the licence was given. Al Rajhi recently appointed a general manager for the bank, while it is still looking for suitable premises for a branch, a senior government official, who requested anonymity told the daily.
