Local contractor will complete the early and main construction works
Local developer Aldar Properties has awarded the local Construction Group Contracting House the contract for the estimated AED745m ($202m) main and early works on The Bridges development on Abu Dhabi's Reem Island.
The work comprises the construction of six apartment towers following shoring, piling and earthworks. The towers consist of 1,272 apartments that range from studios to three bedrooms. The apartments will be ready for handover during the first quarter of 2020.
US firms Aecom and Perkins+Will are the consultants working on the scheme.
In early September, Aldar launched a new AED2.4bn ($650m) mixed-use residential project on Yas Island.
The Waters Edge scheme, which will be made up of 13 residential apartment buildings, will be located near the proposed Sea World theme park, and walking distance from Yas Mall, Ferrari World and the Yas Marina Circuit. The project will also include a promenade area with retail and dining offerings for residents.
Designs for the project, which were completed by the UKs Atkins, have been approved by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC).
Aldar expects to tender the enabling package by the end of the year.
