Sonatrach to supply gas to two power plants via pipeline

Algeria has signed a deal with Morocco to supply natural gas to two of its power plants.

The scope of the contract involves Algeria supplying 640 million cubic metres a year of gas over a 10-year period.

The two power plants receiving the gas are the 470MW Ain Beni Mathar and the 385MW Tahaddart.

The gas will be transported by Algeria’s state-oil company to Morocco through the Gazoduc Pedro Duran Farell (GPDF) pipeline that runs to Spain through the North African state.
