Alstom secures $27.83m Iraq deal

The Iraqi government has awarded French engineering group Alstom a $27.83m contract to rehabilitate a unit at one of its power plants, Reuters has reported. The unit at the gas-fired power station in Iraq's holy Shi'ite city of Najaf, which has been out of operation for five years, is expected to be reconnected to Iraq's electricity grid by the summer of 2011, Alstom said.
