AMEC and Fluor link up for Iraq oil bid

AMECof the UK and Fluor Corporation of the US announced on 24 April that they had formed a joint venture called Fluor/AMECto bid for work in the Iraqi oil industry. The move comes amid expectations that the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is about to invite bids for major oil field rehabilitation work.

The joint venture will be 51 per cent owned by Fluor and 49 per cent by AMEC. The UK company employs 50,000 people worldwide and has annual turnover of about £5,500 million ($8,800 million). Fluor reported revenues in 2002 of $10,000 million.
