Work involves expanding oil gathering centre by 50,000 barrels a day
UK-based Amec Foster Wheeler has won a contract to carry out a front-end engineering and design (feed) study on an oil gathering centre project in Kuwait.
The contract was awarded by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), which plans to upgrade Gathering Centre GC-24 to increase capacity by 50,000 barrels a day (b/d) from the current level of 165,000 b/d. It will also optimise existing facilities to cater for the expected high level of water in the mix of crude and gas.
The project is part of KOCs target to increase oil production by up to 1 million b/d by 2020 and maintain this for 10 years.
