Local firm Consolidated Consultants reappointed to consult on airport redevelopment in Jordan

A joint venture between the Canada’s WSP Group and Jordan’s Consolidated Consultants (CC) has been appointed to provide technical advice and support related to the project financing for the second phase of redevelopment work on Amman’s Queen Alia International airport in Jordan.

The expansion project aims to expand the airport at a rate of six per cent every year for the next 25 years.

Both WSP and CC previously provided independent engineering services for phase one of the project in 2007.

The finished terminal will have the capacity to process 9 million passengers a year, with the potential site capacity to process 12 million a year.

US-based Louis Berger previously worked on the construction of a new 100,000 sq m, 14-gate passenger terminal building, as well as improvements to existing airside and landside facilities.

Queen Alia International airport is being developed and is operated by the Airport International Group (AIG). It is a Jordanian consortium of companies, and a joint venture of Cyprus-based Joannou & Paraskevaides and J&P-AVAX that won a build, operate, transfer contract for the airport in 2007
