Ward was appointed in 2007 as managing partner of the firm’s Abu Dhabi office and has lived and worked in Abu Dhabi for more than 12 years. He received a first-class honours degree in law from Oxford University in 1983 and qualified as a solicitor in 1986. Since his qualification he has specialised in corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and public and private share issues.

Ward has also advised many UK and Middle East government and regulatory authorities in relation to legislative and regulatory projects in a variety of sectors.

Ward has particular experience in energy and infrastructure transactions, having advised a number of leading global oil and gas and transport companies on major projects in the Middle East, and also has considerable experience of regional healthcare projects.

From 1994 to 1995 Ward was director of legislation and licensing at Ofgas, the UK gas regulator, advising on the legislation, licence scheme and corporate transactions required for the restructuring of the British gas industry and the introduction of full retail competition in the gas sector
