Two new appointments have been made on the proposed Jumeirah beach residence (JBR) project in Dubai. The UK's Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo has been appointed as architect and designer, while a letter of intent has been issued to Turner International of the US for the post of project manager (MEED 6:9:02; 30:8:02, Cover Story).
Estimated to cost $1,400 million, the JBR project involves the construction of 41 20-50-storey towers offering 3,000 apartments, ranging from studios up to four-bedroom units. The mixed-use development, to be located on the seafront near Mina Seyahi, also entails the construction of shopping malls, restaurants, cinema complexes, sports and health clubs, hotels and related works.
The facilities are planned to be completed by early 2005. The client is Dubai Technology, e-commerce & Media Free Zone Authority (Tecom).
