The local Arabtec Constructionhas been awarded a contract worth AED 395 million ($108 million) to build residential villas on phase 1 of the Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) development. The 15-month contract calls for the construction of 560 units, including leisure facilities and related infrastructure works. The villas will have a built-up area of about 171,000 square metres.
Estimated to cost $1,300 million, DSO will cover a built-up area of 7.2 million square metres in Dubai's Nad al-Sheba district. The project aims to attract global technology companies in the electronics and microelectronics industries to establish research and development, design, manufacturing and fabrication facilities. US-based Industrial Design & Construction (IDC)carried out the masterplan. The local Archon Engineeringis the consultant. The client is Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA - MEED 8:10:04).
