06 November 2013

Arabtec’s 42-month construction deal for the mixed-use tower in Dubai is valued at $490m

Arabtec Construction has won an AED1.8bn ($490m) contract for the construction of a mixed-use high-rise tower on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.

The 77-storey, mixed-use tower will be 369 metres tall and will comprise over 22,000 square metres of office space on 18 floors, and 908 square metres of retail area. It will also include a 350-room hotel and 83 serviced apartments, as well as 180 apartments.

Negotiations are under way with several world-leading hospitality brands for the management of the hotel and serviced apartments, which will collectively occupy 25 floors.

Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-November and will take 42 months to complete.

The consultant is UK-based Atkins. The name of the client was not disclosed.

Arabtec says when the tower is completed in May 2017 it will be the world’s 26th tallest building, adding that it has already built seven out of the world’s 150 tallest structures, including the world’s tallest man-made structure, the 830-metre-tall Burj Khalifa.

Arabtec has secured work on a hotel project in Dubai in October when it was awarded a contract to build the final phase of the Tiara Hotel on Palm Jumeirah. The 332-room hotel project comprises two mixed-use towers, including a dedicated 216-room hotel and 116 residential apartments.
