The 25-month terminal expansion contract is valued at AED561m
The local Arabtec Construction has won the AED561m ($153m) contract to expand and refurbish Terminal 2 at Dubai International airport.
MEED reported in December that Arabtec was the frontrunner for the contract. Two other local contractors had been shortlisted in 2011 for the contract. They were Al-Ahmadiah and Alec (MEED 9:12:11).
The project involves doubling the size of the terminal from 30,000 square metres to about 60,000 sq m. For the selected contractor, this will involve about 30,000 sq m of new build and 25,000 sq m of refurbishment. The contract duration is 25 months. The client is Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).
