The local Arabtec Construction has been awarded a AED311m ($85m) contract for the construction of public realm areas in the Concourses and Arrivals Plazas at Expo 2020.
The project comprises the construction of 268,000 square metres of public concourses including public entrance plazas, landscaping, lighting water features, irrigation, landscape structures and furniture.
Construction is scheduled to begin in October and completion is planned for the last quarter of 2019.
The project client is Expo Dubai 2020.
Arabtec is working on other projects at the Expo site. It will build and operate the UAE pavilion, and is building the Project Star retail centre.
