
Local contractor wins work in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah
Dubai-based Arabtec Construction has been awarded two contracts worth a total of AED623m ($170m) to build residential towers and staff accommodation in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.
Arabtec was awarded a AED552m contract to build two residential towers for a private developer in Abu Dhabi. The total built up area will be approximately 90,000 square metres.
The first tower will consist of three basement levels, a ground floor, five-floor podium and 40 residential floors. The second tower will contain a two-level basement, a ground floor, five-floor podium and 35 residential floors.
The work also involves all of the enabling and structural works, mechanical, engineering and plumbing works and fit-out works. The project will take 24 months to complete.
Arabtec has also been awarded a AED71m contract to design and build a staff accommodation building in Ishwais, Fujairah. The building will have 16 floors, two podiums and a basement. The project will have a total built up area of 14,000 sq m and will take 16 months to complete.
The 90-storey tower will include 600 residential apartments, cinema, gymnasium and swimming pool (MEED 5:5:10).
