Indian contract to execute offsite pipelines package at renamed Red Sea Refinery
India’s Dayim Punj Lloyd has confirmed that Saudi Aramco has awarded it the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the offsite pipelines package at the Red Sea Refinery Project.
In a statement Punj Lloyd said that the scope of works for the package includes EPC of steel and large plastic pipes, utility services and associated custody metering systems, electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
“This is our first major pipeline project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and will be a foundation stone for exploring more opportunities in the sector and strengthening our footprint in the market,” said Adnan Abduljawad, chief executive of Dayim Punj Lloyd.
The value of the award was not disclosed. MEED reported the awarding of contracts on Yanbu, including the Punj Lloyd award, in late July (MEED 29:7:10).
The Red Sea Refinery was formally called the Yanbu Export Refinery before the US’ ConocoPhillips pulled out of the 400,000 barrels-a-day facility and Aramco decided to develop it on its own. A new company, the Red Sea Refining Company, has been formed to build and then operate the plant.
