Contractor will upgrade infrastructure at Jorf Lasfar port
Geneva-registered Archirodon Construction has been awarded a $240m contract for construction work at Jorf Lasfar port in Morocco.
The two-year contract involves building new infrastructure and upgrading existing facilities at the port. The client is the Office Cherifien des Phospates (OCP) and the Office National de l-Electricite (One). Completion is scheduled for May 2015.
Located 20 kilometres south-west of the city of El-Jadida, Jorf Lasfar is home to some of Morocco’s largest power stations and fertiliser plants.
In February, port operator DP World awarded Archirodon the estimated AED150m ($41m) contract to build the Terminal 2 port expansion at Dubai’s Jebel Ali port. The Terminal 2 expansion work involves the construction of 400m of new quay wall that will increase the capacity by about 1 million TEUs (20-foot equivalent units).
