Ascon starts work on metro car park

17 June 2008
The local ETA Ascon has started work on the AED600m ($163m) contract to build the car park at Rashidiya station on the Dubai metro network.

The scheme is one of a series of car park projects to be awarded.

The local Ali Moosa & Sons Contracting was recently awarded an AED460m contract to build a car park next to the Jumeirah Station.

The wider metro project also involves the construction of a multi-storey car park at Al-Ghusais.

Construction of 70 per cent of the red line and 27 per cent of the green line has now been completed. Trains are due to start running on the red line by September 2009 and on the green line in 2010.

The Durl Consortium is building the two lines. The client is the Roads & Transport Authority (MEED 9:6:08).
