The QR1.3bn ($357m) contract covers the construction of 32 kilometres of sewage pipes and the construction of a main pipeline with a diameter of 1.6 metres, from the planned pumping station at Al-Khisa to the Doha North plant.
Ultra will begin work on the project in February 2008. The Doha North sewage treatment plant will have a capacity of 439,000 cubic metres a day, making it the country’s largest.
Singapore’s Keppel Seghers was awarded the $1.5bn design-build-operate contract for the plant in September (MEED 27:9:07).
